The Mystery Bandit

An illustrated Bible adventure for children and families. Follow Von and Ashley as they set out to stop a thief whose greatest secret is what he steals.

In a village tucked between green hills, stories of the Mystery Bandit have spread from home to home. People lock their doors and warn their children, yet nobody can explain exactly what has gone missing. Von and Ashley decide to find the answer. Their journey takes them through storms, unfamiliar paths, and unsettling encounters that test their courage and challenge what they think they know.

Written for ages 7–13 and shared family reading, this illustrated adventure brings Scripture into the story through Bible verses and memorable battle cries. Children can follow the mystery, while parents, grandparents, and teachers have opportunities to pause, listen, and discuss the choices the characters make. The story invites readers to ask questions instead of rushing ahead to an easy answer.

The complete 23-page book includes an author’s letter, sixteen illustrated story sections, a family discussion page, practical activities, and a closing Bible lesson. Read it aloud together or let an older child explore it independently, then return to the discussion questions as a family. The artwork offers plenty to notice along the way, and the short sections make it easy to choose a comfortable reading pace.

The Mystery Bandit belongs to Chronicles of a Reformer, a collection by The Boy Who Pushes the Plow. This children’s adventure offers families another way to explore biblical truth together. The complete PDF is free to read and download, with no email address required. Open the book and discover the Bandit’s secret for yourself.
